The regional hospital of the Northwest will have 1,000 square meters of surface area to accommodate new consultations, the day hospital and the critical patients unit, thanks to the construction of a new wing on its south facade.
The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, stressed that this project "responds to the demands and structural needs of the health area" and was convinced that "it is a work of the future, which will improve assistance, safety and patient care. "
Villegas visited the hospital today, where he took the opportunity to present the preliminary study of the expansion project of the health center, which includes the construction of a two-story building that, at its lower level, of 300 square meters, will house the Day Hospital, where The number of therapy chairs for oncological treatments is expected to be extended to 15.
On the first floor, which will have more than 650 square meters, it is planned to locate 10 outpatient clinics and the Critical Patients Unit, which will be next to the postoperative resuscitation area.
The future ICU of the Caravaca de la Cruz hospital will have the capacity to house six intensive care posts.
Phases of the project
The Murcian Health Service, after preparing the Functional Plan of the new space and the previous study of the project, has taken out the tender and awarded 71,390 euros for the drafting of the technical project "which should be fully completed in March of next year so that we can tender and adjudicate the work itself ".
In this sense, the counselor avoided giving dates for the operation of the new hospital structure.
"It is preferable that citizens of the health area feel that things are moving forward and not generate expectations that may be delayed for reasons beyond the Government's will to carry out this project in the shortest possible time," he added.
"Today we have come here because we have an incontestable fact: there is a previous study and we have awarded the technical study," said Villegas, who showed how the new units will be distributed on the plans of what will be the new hospital wing.
The Regional Minister of Health remarked that "the commitment of the Government with the citizens of the Northwest is being fulfilled" and added that for more than 13 years there has been no action in the hospital until the current legislature, in which they have invested almost 1.5 million in the surgical area, and now this expansion project will be around five million euros, of which about 3 correspond to the work and the rest with equipment.
