Following the study published in the press that puts the municipality at the tail of social spending, the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, through its Department of Social Services, has indicated that the data thrown by the report does not correspond to reality , since they do not take into account the services impact on the neighbors through the Commonwealth of Social Services of the Northwest, nor the social items that depend on other councils.
"We consider that the report of the Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services is correct and that the subsequent political assessments made by the Popular Party are alarmist and unfounded," as pointed out by the councilor responsible for the area of Social Services, María José Soria.
In this sense, Soria has pointed out that the municipal budget that goes to Social Services amounts to a total of 541,277 euros, of which about 150,000 correspond to the contribution to the Commonwealth of Social Services of the Northwest.
The investment per inhabitant is 21.15 euros.
The council mentioned some examples such as the aid to people at risk of social exclusion, which went from 3,500 to 34,000 euros, or the socio-educational actions, from 2,000 to 31,000 euros.
However, Soria believes that "the previous governments of the Popular Party little has imported the total item that goes to Social Services, when a debt accumulated to the aforementioned commonwealth of about 500,000 euros."
