The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, attended this morning the sung mass and the subsequent performance of the traditional folk groups of the Region, on the occasion of the Fiestas de las Cuadrillas of the Caravaqueña district of Barranda.
Lopez Miras stressed that "it is a source of pride that the Region of Murcia, thanks to Barranda, becomes the national capital of the gangs", a place where all weekend long "about 25,000 people have gathered".
The regional president added that "preserving this tradition is to protect the living legacy, preserve our identity throughout history and especially during the last 41 years.
This is what we must defend and for this reason the Fiesta de las Cuadrillas de Barranda is of National Tourist Interest and of Cultural Interest. "
