With the conference 'The story they do not tell us' conclude this Thursday, February 14, the activities scheduled in Caravaca de la Cruz within the V Conference 'An Education for the XXI Century: looks from the Sciences and the Arts'.
The talk, by the Colectivo de Historia Social de Cieza, will take place at 8:00 pm, at the House of Culture 'Emilio Sáez'.
The conference 'An Education for the 21st Century' - composed of 120 activities in 17 municipalities of the Region - is a commitment to reflect on the educational model and is promoted by the Organizing Committee 2019, of which the University of Murcia is part , the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Museum of Science and the Regional Film Archive 'Francisco Rabal', among other institutions and collectives.
In the events held in the town also collaborates the Department of Education of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The Collective of Social History of Cieza will bring to mind key events in recent history: from collectives that promoted society to forgotten wars.
The group was created in 2017 with the aim of channeling a critical reflection on the subject of study of history, to place it in society.
"The ignorance of our past contributes to increase the feeling of confusion in the society we live," they say.
The collective says: "Now, more than ever, against the intentional oblivion and control of history, which is trying to impose, we must fight for our memory and rescue the life stories of those people who gave themselves in the defense of justice , freedom and equality ".
"Hobsbawm wrote that people who dedicate themselves to history are professional reminders, they are responsible for keeping history alive to preserve the struggle of those who have built freedom and justice, also their memory, giving them the knowledge and the necessary tools to that the citizenship finds in the story of the history, the wisdom and the shelter to build better societies ", they argue from the association.
