The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has begun work to review and update the General Plan for Urban Planning (PGMO), with the implementation of previous studies to obtain a diagnosis of the urban situation of the municipality.
In this sense, the councilors of Urbanism and Works, Enrique Fuentes, and Services, Jesus Sanchez, have stressed that both the regulatory changes marked by the Law of Territorial and Urban Planning of the Region of Murcia and the numerous shortcomings and dysfunctions of the current text they make it necessary to undertake a modification of the PGMO.
"The current plan was approved in 2005, and throughout this time about one hundred specific modifications have passed through the Plenary, which is the best proof that the current text is not adapted to current needs and future, "said Fuentes, who also stressed that this is an important process such as" deciding what urban model we want for Caravaca, something that affects all sectors of the local economy. "
The works will be developed under two fundamental premises: guarantee the sustainable development of the municipality, fulfilling all environmental conditions, and seek citizen participation so that all economic and social agents can make as many contributions as they deem appropriate.
"Very soon we will start with the sectoral meetings, the first of which will be with representatives of the footwear, commerce, hospitality, construction, industry, agricultural organizations, environmental defense groups, etc.," according to Councilman Enrique Sources.
For his part, Councilman Jesus Sanchez said that the ultimate goal is that the resulting document ensures the sustainable and harmonious development of the municipality and is beneficial for most residents of the urban area and the districts.
