The Plenary Session of Caravaca de la Cruz City Council unanimously approved a motion to control the proliferation of gambling houses and online gambling and to promote preventive measures in the face of the growing gambling addiction.
From the Municipal Group of the United Left proposed measures for the control and legislation regarding these betting venues, urging, for example, to prohibit their opening near educational centers, limit their advertising space and establish a limit of establishments in the urban centers.
The motion argues that monetary bets enjoy a legislative freedom that results in the uncontrolled proliferation of these premises, which is an economic ruin for many families.
Numerous reports endorse the tendency to gambling of a part of youth, who finds in these pernicious places a wrong way of leisure and monetary gain.
In the plenary session corresponding to the month of March, the motion of the Municipal Citizens Group to dedicate the name of a street or plaza to Caravaqueño Manuel Sánchez Robles, better known as Manolo 'Mané, was also approved, with the backing of all the political groups.
