Caravaca de la Cruz will be this Saturday, May 18, the headquarters of the final phase of the thirtieth edition of the Mathematical Olympiad in the Region of Murcia.
In Salones Castillo de la Cruz will meet, from 9.30 am, the top 20 students in each category, whose respective finalists will go to the national phase, in Melilla for primary students and in Jaén for Secondary.
The Olympiad is organized by the Mathematical Society of the Region of Murcia, with the sponsorship of the Seneca Foundation and the Ministry of Education and in this edition has the support of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The Councilor for Education and Youth, Ana Luisa Marcos, and the president of that society, Bienvenido Espinar, have explained the details of this educational project, has among its objectives to encourage students to develop mathematical skills, discovering or increasing their hobby for the resolution of problems and for the intellectual challenges of a logical-mathematical nature, while at the same time fostering relationships between the mathematics teachers.
The XXX Mathematical Olympiad of the Region of Murcia will begin at 9.30 am, with the reception of students, family members and teachers.
Next, the tests will begin with 1 hour and 45 minutes.
At 12:15 will be held the conference 'The joy of living mathematics', by Professor Pedro Buendía and, finally, at 13:30, will proceed to the public act of recognition to the three students of the Region participated in the national phase of 2018 and will proceed to the delivery of prizes, because once the tests are corrected, the three students of 6th grade will be designated, together with the three students from the 2nd year of Secondary, who will represent the Region in the National Mathematical Olympiad.
