The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz joins the #LuzporlaEla campaign on June 21 on the occasion of the 'World Day of Lateral Sclerosis'.
The president and secretary of the Association 'Ela Region of Murcia', Damián Guerao and Elisa Motellón, respectively, have held a meeting with the council of Social Services, María José Soria, to transfer this initiative consisting, among other actions, in illuminate facades of emblematic green buildings to give visibility to people and relatives who are facing this serious illness.
The World Health Organization (WHO) established the 'World Day Against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis' with the aim of calling attention to a dramatic disease, which requires quality health services, as well as improvements in the lines of research that involve causes, treatment and cure of the disease.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) has no cure today, but there are treatments to relieve the symptoms of the sick.
Therefore, all efforts should look towards the assistance they receive, while medical research advances towards a possible cure.
The life expectancy of patients can be increased with adequate health and social care.
