Consolidated as one of the reference tournaments within the national base football, next June 7, 8 and 9, Caravaca de la Cruz will once again host the 'Tomir Cup' sporting event.
In this fifth edition there will be 24 teams from the Alevín category, some of them coming from clubs like Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Club Atlético Osasuna, SD Eibar, Málaga CF, SL Benfica and Elche CF.
As hosts, two sets belonging to the Municipal Football School will be part of the tournament.
Throughout the weekend, 170 games will be played.
"In total, there will be 500 participants, including children and monitors, who will make Caravaca de la Cruz the national capital of base football thanks to all the teams displaced from different parts of Spain", as highlighted by the Councilor for Sports, María José Soria, who thanked the involvement and effort of the members of the organization, represented at the press conference by Mariano Oyonarte and Pedro Israel Alcázar.
Pedro Israel Alcázar and Mariano Oyonarte have also thanked the collaboration of the Department of Sports and the support of the sponsoring firms.
They have also highlighted that the 'Tomir Cup' goes beyond sports, since it has become a dynamic element of the tourism and commercial sector, generating more than 2,000 overnight stays in each edition.
"It manages to deseasonalize the flow of visitors and helps to transmit to the outside the image of a welcoming and open city, which turns to visitors and puts children and grassroots sport at the center of all activity", they highlighted.
The matches will be played during Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 7, 8 and 9 June, in the municipal Antonio Martinez 'El Morao' field, with a joint ticket for all matches of six euros.
On Thursday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m., the parade will be held from Plaza Paco Pim to the esplanade of the Castle, where the welcome ceremony will take place to all participating clubs.
