The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, has approached with representatives of professional agricultural organizations the problem that affects various livestock farms in the municipality that do not conform to the current urban planning and have been developing their activity in the municipality for decades the sanitary hygienic regulations required.
The mayor has expressed the commitment of the local government team to move forward in the revision and updating of both the General Urban Planning Plan (PGMO) and the municipal livestock ordinance.
This work meeting has been attended by the Town Planning, Monica Garcia, and Livestock, Agriculture and Pedanías, José Antonio Sánchez, as well as the Secretary of Livestock and Services of the Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA), Carlos Sáez, and the vice president of COAG Region of Murcia, José Miguel Marín, along with farmers in the area.
"It is necessary and urgent to work hand in hand with the sector and all those affected to regularize the situation of those livestock farms that comply with all the required sanitary hygienic regulations and that, in addition, have the relevant authorizations of other public administrations", The mayor said.
He also added that "the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has to be with the Livestock as a traditional activity of our land, a source of job creation and key element to stop the depopulation of the rural environment, promoting the necessary conditions for the incorporation of new generations that ensure the present and the future of a vital sector for all. "
"We must find solutions that allow us to reverse the situation in which many farms are found and for this, we must analyze the lines of work followed to date and address necessary and adequate actions to normalize the situation of the largest number of farms, in order to achieve solutions directed to an activity that plays a transcendental role in a large part of the municipality and is the sustenance of many families ", they have indicated from UPA.
