"I am very happy because I dedicated a lot of time to the project and that effort has been rewarded."

This is how the architect feels for the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Silvia Merońo Esparza, after knowing that the Hispalyt Ceramic Forum has given her a mention for her Final Degree Work 'Vivify old age, Center for Active Aging in Caravaca '.

According to his account, to develop his work, which was based on one of the generic proposals raised by the architecture professors of the UPCT, he took the Hispalyt Forum as a reference, since in order to develop his proposal he used “different types of ceramic materials”, of that is why I will need a good documentation. "When I finished the job I decided to present myself to the awards they were giving and I am very satisfied that they have recognized my proposal," says the young woman.

His work was based on the proposal to rehabilitate the Palace of Encomienda, located in Caravaca.

As a result, he proposed to develop an active aging center to help elderly people to develop their motor and cognitive capacity.

As he explains, the center is divided into several areas, one for sports activities, another for more recreational activities, where there would be an area for a library, and finally an intergenerational space with cafeteria and a museum to value the Palace of Encomienda itself.

The young woman considers that the new use of the Palace would be very well accepted among the population of the area, especially because after conducting a study, she warned that in the historic center of Caravaca there was a greater number of aging population than in the area of ​​widening .

"I was also very interested in the issue of aging because it is something that I have very present," he says before explaining that there is a certain dependence on the elderly, something that is living closely, as a result of their parents having to get more involved. in the care of their grandparents.

"The institutions are saturated and the new generations are not so involved in this," he says while demonstrating the usefulness of such facilities in any city.
