The IV Teresian Cycle of Caravaca de la Cruz, organized jointly by the Department of Culture of the City Council and the community of Carmelitas Descalzos, opens today, Thursday, October 3, at 8.30 pm, in the church of San José of the old convent of the Barefoot Carmelites, in the main street.
The person in charge of opening these cultural days will be Professor and Carmelite Secundino Castro, Professor Emeritus of the Pontifical University of Comillas, with the conference 'Teresa de Jesus, teacher and disciple of the Word', on Thursday, October 3, at 8:30 p.m. .
Castro is considered one of the best specialists in the life and work of Santa Teresa and also of San Juan de la Cruz.
The IV Teresian Cycle of Caravaca de la Cruz will be held on October 3, 10, 16 and 24 in the church of San José of the former convent of the Barefoot Carmelites, in the main street.
As Councilman Juan Manuel de León has explained, all scheduled activities are aimed at deepening the knowledge of Teresa de Jesus, saint, writer and reformer of the universally known Order of Carmen, whose relationship with Caravaca comes through the convent of closing which he founded in 1576. The conference will resume next Thursday, October 10, with the reading of fragments of work in prose and poetry of Santa Teresa by components of the reading and writing workshop of the Municipal Library and high school students.
