The Department of Sports of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz closes this Sunday, October 6, a new edition of the 'Caminos' municipal program, with which the practice of hiking and pilgrimage tourism is encouraged.
Throughout the summer season and under the motto 'Walking is resting', there have been two pilgrimages of different routes along the Camino de Santiago and four exits through the stages of the 'Camino de los Vélez', with the participation of a hundred of people.
The 'Camino Real de los Vélez', about seventy kilometers, begins in Vélez Blanco, a municipality in Almeria with an important heritage that shares historical and cultural ties with Caravaca de la Cruz.
The group of the Department of Sports will arrive in Caravaca this Sunday from the hamlet of La Almudema to participate at 12.00 at the Pilgrim's Mass of the Basilica de la Vera Cruz and in a meal-conviviality.
'Caminos 2019' has given continuity to the municipal hiking program 'D´Ruta', which is developed throughout the course with monthly departures to natural landscapes and mountain enclaves and whose new edition will begin next November.
The goal of the Department of Sports is to promote the love of sports in nature and promote healthy lifestyle habits, fighting sedentary lifestyle.
