As of October, Caravaca de la Cruz will be one of the headquarters of the Prevention and Comprehensive Care Service for Victims of Sexual Abuse and / or Aggression (Cavax) of the Autonomous Community, which will cover the different municipalities of the Region from the Northwest.
This was announced by the director general of Women and Gender Diversity of the Autonomous Government, María José García Méndez, and the councilor responsible for the area of ​​Women and Equal Opportunities in the Caracas City Council, Mónica Sánchez García, after the coordination meeting held with the professionals responsible for attending this free public service, for which no appointment is necessary.
Cavax offers psychological assistance and information about the resources available to victims and has an accompaniment service in judicial and other proceedings;
It will also carry out awareness and prevention campaigns in the municipality.
The general director explained that "due to the increase in demand that is reflected in the statistics, the regional government is committed to strengthening CAVAX with a roaming service, with which it intends to decentralize it from the capital to facilitate access, avoid displacement and in short, to be able to cover more women in the Region. "
Councilwoman Monica Sanchez reported that the headquarters of the CAVAX in Caravaca will be located in the municipal offices assigned by the City of Caravaca in the Center for Employment, Training and Equality, next to the Center for Attention to Women of Gender Violence (CAVI).
"It will move on the last Monday every month, in the morning from 9 am to 2 pm, starting on October 28," said the mayor.
Caravaca thus joins the municipalities of Murcia, Lorca, Archena and Yecla where the prevention and comprehensive care service for women victims of sexual violence is implemented, attended by a multidisciplinary team of professionals in social work, social education and law.
The first action scheduled in Caravaca coinciding with the launch of this new service will be a sensitization day on sexual violence with all agents that may have an object with the user profile of CAVAX, women over 16 years old victims of aggressions and / or sexual abuse.
This day will involve security forces and bodies, health services, women's and youth associations and departments of Equality and Youth, among other agents.
The service will also be presented to educational agents through the Education Observatory of the Autonomous Community.
Since its launch, the Comprehensive Prevention and Attention Service for Victims of Sexual Abuse and / or Aggression (Cavax) has attended a total of 749 women in the Region of Murcia and so far this year 72 new attention has been made.
