Every Friday, registered lawyers will travel to the Municipal Employment Center to inform and advise the neighbors and guarantee the right to access to Justice on equal terms
The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz is the first Consistory of the Region of Murcia to implement the Legal Guidance Service (SOJ), which will be provided by professionals from the Illustrious Bar Association of the Region of Murcia.
The mayor, José Francisco García, and the dean of the school, Francisco Martínez-Escribano, have signed the collaboration agreement that will allow this new citizen assistance to be launched as of next November.
The Legal Guidance Service will be provided every Friday, from 09.00 to 14.00, at the Municipal Employment, Training and Equality Center.
"This is a social measure, with the reduction of obstacles, displacements are avoided and a fundamental right recognized in our Constitution is contributed more effectively and closer, such as guaranteeing access to justice on equal terms," ​​according to highlighted the mayor after signing the agreement.
For his part, the dean of the Illustrious Bar Association of the Region of Murcia has explained that the legal guidance services (SOJ), dependent on the bar associations, are responsible for previously informing those people requesting free legal assistance, as well as helping to collect the necessary documentation and compliance with the requirements for the recognition of said right.
"We are grateful and very satisfied with the collaboration established, since the Consistory Caravaca de la Cruz has been the first municipality to address this need," said Martínez-Escribano, who has reported that the professionals of the Legal Guidance Service will travel weekly , which will attend and guide free of charge to citizens who need it.
Free legal assistance is, therefore, a public service that guarantees equal access to justice for those who lack the financial resources to litigate.
And the duty of office is the system through which the bar associations proceed to appoint a lawyer to those who need legal defense, being free for those who accredit that they lack financial resources.
The collaboration agreement includes the transfer by the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz of two municipal spaces in the Municipal Center for Employment, Training and Equality for the citizen advisory service and for a lawyer's room available to all members.
