The contest that Aqualia summons annually on the occasion of the 'World Water Day' has awarded eight caravaqueños schoolchildren, who received their prize as finalists in the House of Culture.
The event was attended by the Councilors for Education and Environment, José Fernández Tudela and Ana Belén Martínez, and the head of the water service in the municipality, Mario González.
The contest is a key educational tool to teach children the value of properly managing the water cycle and the work involved in taking it to homes in quantity and quality, as well as returning it to nature in a sustainable way.
In its 17th edition, around 7,200 students from the municipalities of Spain participated in which Aqualia serves.
In Caravaca de la Cruz, the winners of this course have been: Andrea Haro Martínez, from CEIP San Francisco;
Antonio David Martínez Medina, from El Salvador;
Carmen Rabadán Casado, from Basilio Sáez;
David Sambruno Espinosa, of the Virgen de la Candelaria;
Iris Pumar Celdrán, of La Santa Cruz;
Laura Marín Zapata, from Cervantes, and Irene Bernal Martínez, Our Lady of Consolation College.
The schoolchildren received a smartwatch and will go to the national phase.
In this edition of the contest, Aqualia invited the children to become researchers, to solve where the water they consume each day comes from and where it goes after using it.
Therefore, the web www.investigadoresdelagua.com made available educational material on the management of the integral water cycle, as well as a special section to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and Aqualia's commitment to the 2030 Agenda.
