The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Luengo, inaugurated this morning the IV Segureño Lamb Fair that is held in the village of Archivel, in Caravaca de la Cruz, and in which The production of 25,000 lambs during the last year has been highlighted.
Antonio Luengo highlighted “the regional government's commitment to the Murcian livestock sector and the momentum that is being given to the Segureño Lamb as a quality brand and reference that distinguishes us from other productsâ€.
"We have to respond to the challenges and needs of the rural world, to fight against depopulation and provide mechanisms that allow farmers to develop their activity and generate wealth," he added.
During the presentation, the Pastor and Pastor of the year were recognized as an example of people who have spent their entire lives dedicated to the world of livestock.
The winners were Antonio García Soria, Archivel's 89-year-old neighbor, and pastor Josefa García Burruezo.
