In the Marble Technology Center, the research lines for adapting to new business models and opening to more international markets have been exposed
The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, has held a meeting with representatives of the marble and natural stone companies to know first hand the situation and needs of the sector
The Marble Technology Center has hosted this meeting, in which the lines of research that are underway in innovation have been put on the table, as well as the challenges they face to open up to new markets and for the transformation to New business models
"From the City Council of Caravaca we are holding work meetings with the business sectors that support and boost our economy and marble is a sector that has traditionally generated employment and development and is also an ambassador for our land in the main countries of the world, therefore their demands and needs are ours and from the municipal level we support them within our competences and we will be transmitters of them before the other administrations, "said the mayor, who said that" the improvement of communications and the strengthening of regional aid for internationalization and for R & D & I are two fundamental aspects. "
José Francisco García has been accompanied in his statements by the president of the Association of Marble and Stone Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia (Marsa), Pedro Marín, and by the president and director of the Marble Technology Center, José Marín and Francisco Javier Fernández, respectively, who have thanked the initiative of the Caravaqueño Consistory to promote this meeting and share the problems and opportunities of the sector.
During the meeting, the internationalization plans for 2020 were presented, with commercial missions by the Institute of Development of the Region of Murcia, focused on markets of great potential such as the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea.
Currently, the Technology Center has a highly qualified staff that develops research projects and technological services of great added value for Natural Stone, Extractive Industry, Construction, Handicrafts and related.
All this without forgetting other very significant aspects, such as training, technological dissemination and technical advice.
