In 2019, the Foundation has made investments in promotion and equity worth nearly 600,000 euros
The Board of Trustees of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation has met in Caravaca to take stock of the actions carried out during this year, with an investment close to 600,000 euros, and plan new initiatives for 2020.
After the meeting chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, the mayor of Caracas, José Francisco García, has informed that the Camino de la Cruz Foundation will invest 90,000 euros for the relaunch of the 'Camino del Norte', via 900-kilometer historic pilgrimage, from Puente la Reina (Navarra) to Caravaca de la Cruz.
"A new initiative that emanates from the union of wills between the municipal and regional governments and the foundation, under the formula of private public collaboration that is showing such good results," he said.
The action consists in improving the signaling of the road from 2020 and renewing the agreements with the different communities and municipalities through which the itinerary passes (90 municipalities and five autonomous communities), in order to reinforce the positioning of the Region as a reference of cultural and religious tourism, with Caravaca de la Cruz as a reference for the project.
The Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports said that "we seek to reach agreements with Navarra, Aragon, Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha to improve the route and the conditions of the journey, enhancing the number of accommodations and offering lovers of this type tourism the best conditions to make the journey attractive. "
During the meeting, other items have been approved for the next one, which include investments aimed at the restoration and conservation of the city's cultural heritage, as well as the projection of the gastronomic products of the area, sporting and cultural events.
Two recent actions financed by the Camino de la Cruz Foundation have been the recovery of the facades of the Monastery of Santa Clara and the church of El Salvador, the latter work currently underway.
The two projects have had an investment of 250,000 euros.
Both the mayor and the counselor and the older sister of the Brotherhood of Vera Cruz have thanked the commitment and work of all the employers of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation (Grupo Fuertes, Dulces y Desres Reina, Café Salzillo, Estrella de Levante , Limcamar, Gesa Mediación, Caixabank, UCAM Foundation, HEFAME Foundation and the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia).
