The participants, among which are cyclists of first international level, will make the last effort up the slope of the Castle in support of the 2020 Candidacy of the Wine Horses to Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Caravaca de la Cruz will be the end of the inaugural stage of 'La Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia 2020', in an edition that marks the 40th anniversary of this sporting event that brings together cyclists of the first international level.
According to the agreement between the organization and the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, the stage will aim at the Royal Basilica of Vera Cruz, so that the participants will make the last effort up the slope of the Cuesta del Castillo, the same route they make the horsemen in the race of May 2, in support of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Candidacy of the Wine Horses.
"This is an unprecedented end of the stage, which is a great gesture in the world of sport a key year for the celebration, and in 2020 is when UNESCO will rule the candidacy," said Councilor for Sports, José Fernández Tudela , which has advanced that since the Consistory "is working on several projects and competition events for next year in order to enhance the tourism and sport binomial that gives such good results in Caravaca".
The inaugural stage will be a historic day for cycling in the Region of Murcia.
It will be held on February 14, with Los Alcázares as a departure, in support of the municipality after the severe floods suffered this year.
"Caravaca de la Cruz has been a traditional arrival since the birth of the Tour of the Region of Murcia.
