In the Museum of Music an exceptional gamelan orchestra, a traditional musical group from Indonesia, donated a decade ago by the Embassy of the island country is exhibited
The ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Spain, Pak Hermono, has visited the Museum of Ethnic Music of Barranda.
Previously, he was received by the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García, along with the councilors of Tourism, José Carlos Gómez, and Culture, Juan Manuel de León;
the pediatric Patrocinio Sánchez and the musicologist Carlos Blando Fadol, whose collection is exhibited in the aforementioned museum.
The general director of Cultural Assets, Rafael Gómez, also participated in the guided tour of this space, integrated into the Regional Museum Network.
In the City Hall an exchange of institutional gifts was enhanced and the ambassador signed in the 'Book of Honor' of the Consistory.
In his speech to the media, the ambassador showed his commitment to bring a cultural sample of the island country, the fourth most populous in the world, with 225 million inhabitants, and a strong influence of music as part of his identity.
"Music exceeds borders and languages. The Barranda Museum, one of the most prominent in the Region, is a vehicle that serves to strengthen ties with other countries and for visitors to discover a reflection of world culture through its instruments and sounds ", as the mayor pointed out, who recalled the close connection of the Music Museum with Indonesia since it opened, with the visit of six ambassadors and important donations such as the exceptional orchestra gamelan, formed by about thirty polychrome instruments and made in bamboo.
He also extolled Barranda's musical heritage, with one of the best collections of musical instruments from around the world, composed pieces from five continents and more than 145 countries.
