The Community and the City Council will request the central government to reactivate tax incentives for tourism development and the conservation of Caravaca's heritage
The aid for the revitalization of the historic center, the extension of the Northwest Highway to the Cavila estate, the doubling of the entrance to the Caravaca and the extension of the Health Center have been other issues addressed during the meeting
0. The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz has met with the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, to address strategic projects for the municipality and for the Northwest Region in the field of infrastructure, public services, health or tourism.
José Francisco García has advanced that the Autonomous Community will provide financing to a new Fire Station, which will cover the entire Northwest and will have its headquarters in Caravaca de la Cruz, "a necessary infrastructure, with the latest technologies, which aspires to become a reference in the fight against forest fires, in the heart of the Region of Murcia ".
One of the objectives is to improve the location of the facilities, which will result in a reduction of the response time and, therefore, in a more agile and effective reaction to all the consortium municipalities.
The current park is located in the northern part of the municipality, so emergency vehicles must cross the urban area every time they have to travel to other locations in the area.
After the meeting, the mayor and the Minister of the Presidency, Javier Celdrán, have vindicated the Government of the Nation to authorize the tender for the construction works of the Venta Cavila-Venta del Olivo highway, through the public-private collaboration mechanism, which will allow to connect Andalusia and the Levant by the interior.
"The feasibility report was written by the Government of the Region of Murcia and sent to the Ministry of Finance, so, after months of paralysis, we ask the new central executive to pay attention to this project of vital importance, which is the connection Levante-Andalusia from the inside, "said Celdrán.
For his part, the Mayor of Caravaca has highlighted the strategic importance of this infrastructure;
"It is a turning point, as was the Northwest Highway, to vertebrate our territory; as it would improve the daily lives of thousands of drivers, with a high social impact on employment, wealth and economic growth."
Likewise, the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz has received the support of the Autonomous Community to "advance in the finalization projects of the North-West highway between Caravaca and the Cavila Industrial Estate, as well as in the unfolding of the entrance to the municipality, matters with which we began to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Development in different meetings held during these months of legislature. "
"The revitalization of the historic center is another of the priority objectives in which the Municipal Government works, for which we have the full support of the Autonomous Community. We have already launched the 'Housing Rehabilitation Plan' within the ARRUR program , with more than a million and a half euros, and we want to reactivate the project of the block 'Europán', located in the historic heart, in order to make life more comfortable and that the neighbors choose to stay or undertake a life in this place privileged ", stressed José Francisco García.
During the meeting, the actions related to the Health area have also been addressed, which, with an expected investment of eight million euros, will begin with the reform and expansion of the Health Center in area IV.
On the other hand, the Autonomous Community and the City Council of Caravaca will request the future Ministry of Finance to extend tax incentives to companies that make investments that support the rehabilitation of heritage and the tourist and cultural promotion of Caravaca de la Cruz.
In this regard, the Minister of the Presidency recalled that the central government authorized these incentives in 2017, on the occasion of the Jubilee Year, and they have been active for three years, until August 2019, but, since the Executive was in office and without General Budgets of the State, they could not be extended again.
Thanks to these tax deductions, around 5 million euros were invested in the town, and the last projects benefited have been the restoration of the facades of the Convent of Santa Clara and the Church of El Salvador, worth 250,000 euros.
For this reason, José Francisco García has stressed the importance of the companies integrated in the Camino de la Cruz Foundation or any other interested party continue to have bonuses that contribute to improve the municipality as a tourist destination, with an eye also on the configuration of the Year Jubilee 2024.
Finally, part of the meeting has focused on supporting the candidacy of the Wine Horses to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In this regard, the caravaqueño councilor has affirmed that "for the Region of Murcia it is a milestone that the Wine Horses are the candidacy that represents Spain, so we go hand in hand in this race that we started a decade ago and now we are going to relaunch coinciding with this exciting final stretch, through a campaign that will continue throughout 2020 with different actions and events.
