The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has investigated a young man as alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, after being detected on the RM-730 road (Caravaca de la Cruz-La Puebla de Don Fabrique), circulating more than double of the maximum speed allowed for that route.
The action has taken place in one of the speed control devices established, in a coordinated manner, by the Murcia Provincial Headquarters and the Civil Guard within the framework of the Special Christmas Traffic Operation.
The event took place at noon last Sunday, day 5, when agents of the Traffic Sector of the Civil Guard of Murcia carried out a specific speed control on the RM-730 road (Caravaca de la Cruz-La Puebla de Don Fabrique ).
In the control, the civil guards detected the movement of a vehicle at 199 km / h, in a section limited to 90 km / h, exceeding more than double the maximum speed allowed for the road.
The agents identified their driver, a male, Spanish, 19 years old and neighbor of Caravaca de la Cruz, whose driving license was issued in August last year, so it is a novel driver.
The young driver was investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, for driving a motor vehicle at a speed greater than 80 km / hour in intercity and was made available to the Court of instruction number 1 of Caravaca de la Cruz ( Murcia).
These types of crimes are included in article 379 of the Criminal Code and can be punished alternately with prison sentences of 3 to 6 months, a fine of 6 to 12 months, or work for the benefit of the community for 31 to 90 days, and In any case, with deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than 1 to 4 years.
The establishment of speed controls by the Civil Guard Traffic Group is framed within the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy adopted by the DGT for the 2011-2020 decade, as one of the priorities aimed at reducing accidents. on our roads, especially on conventional or secondary roads, given that excessive speed, on the one hand, greatly increases the risk of traffic accidents and, on the other, are factors that directly affect mortality and severity of the injuries suffered.
In this regard, without prejudice to the specific speed control campaigns established annually by the General Directorate of Traffic, the Benemérita recalls that the speed control activity takes place 24 hours a day, especially in those sections and points Road that, due to its special characteristics, implies an accident risk or is prone to commit this type of infraction, appealing to drivers so that they become aware of the importance of respecting the established speed limitations, to improve their own safety and that of the rest.
