The Governing Council of the Region of Murcia has met exceptionally in Caravaca de la Cruz to address different projects related to the municipality and to show support for the 2020 nomination of the Wine Horses for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in the year in which the party represents Spain before the UNESCO summit.
"We appreciate this unanimous support from the Regional Executive in full, since we are the first municipality that in this legislature hosts a Government Council outside the capital," said the mayor, José Francisco García, in the statements offered by the president , Fernando López Miras, and the regional spokeswoman, Ana Martínez-Vidal.
In the Government Council it has been approved to request both the central State and the European Union to build the interior corridor, a natural connection between Levante and Andalusia, for the Region of Murcia, a strategic and long-demanded infrastructure that is claimed to be included within the Trans-European Transport Network and, specifically, within the Mediterranean Corridor, so that you can benefit from European funds.
On the other hand, at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sports and the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, the Government of the Nation is urged to consider the declaration as an event of interest in the next General State Budget (PGE) exceptional public to the 'Camino de la Vera Cruz' of Caravaca, which will grant fiscal incentives with a duration of three years from that statement.
In this way, companies could deduct up to 90 percent of the money they contribute for projects related to the 'Camino de la Vera Cruz' and the rehabilitation of heritage in Caravaca.
"It is important that the Government of Spain understand the need for this public-private partnership so that the Camino de la Cruz Foundation can continue its exemplary work, whose last action has been the rehabilitation of the façade of the parish church of El Salvador with a budget of about 200,000 euros. "
The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz has taken advantage of the presence of the president and all the members of the Government to advance in some of the strategic projects for the development of the municipality, influencing the investments destined to revitalize the historic center, "where the soul resides and the history of this city. In this regard, he explained that "from the municipal government we have the maximum interest in having all the possible help to improve its conservation and make it more accessible and habitable so that the neighbors can stay or start a life in it."
In this line of work, the Caravaca Historic Center Rehabilitation Plan has already been launched, with more than 1.5 million euros, which for the first time has been granted by the Ministry of Development, within the "Urban and rural regeneration aid 2019. ARRUR Program".
More than 200 neighbors have already come to the information point enabled by the City Council interested in it.
"In addition, we have advanced in the project of the Europán Apple, based on the initial proposal moved by the municipal government to create a car park, a public square and homes that we would like to be intended for young people because it is the way to give it more life to the historic center, "said the mayor.
During the Governing Council, measures to support agriculture and livestock have also been addressed, such as the plan to improve the rural roads of the municipality.
The mayor has also referred to the splitting of the entrance to the town center, "another issue in which we began to work hand in hand with the Ministry of Development in various meetings held during these months of legislature."
In terms of Health, the expansion and reform of the Health Center has been addressed, which has a total budget of five million euros and this year includes an investment of 600,000 euros, already in the bidding phase.
In addition, the improvement of external consultations and the intensive care unit is contemplated, with an endowment for this year of 400,000 euros, and a global budget of three million.
Restoration of the facade of the parish of El Salvador
The president of the Autonomous Community, accompanied by the patrons of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation, councilors and members of the municipal government, has moved, after the Governing Council, to the recently restored parish church of El Salvador, and what It represents "a new example of the importance of private public collaboration in areas such as the recovery and consolidation of regional historical heritage," said the president of the Community.
The cleaning process of this facade has brought to light six cheers that "are a discovery and make a great historical contribution," said López Miras.
These are inscriptions that date from the 16th century and that collect the name of the person who had obtained his degree at the universities of Salamanca or Alcalá and who left his signature, which was a reason for pride for the entire city.
The restoration works of the facade have involved an investment of almost 200,000 euros, have lasted for six months and have been carried out thanks to the Camino de la Cruz Foundation of Caravaca, to which the president thanked "his great work not only with the Jubilee Year of 2017 but with its commitment to the recovery of heritage and its effort and commitment to turn Caravaca de la Cruz into a religious destination of recognized prestige both nationally and internationally. "
"From the regional government we will continue working with the Camino de la Cruz Foundation because the new Jubilee Year of 2024 is just around the corner," said López Miras, who has valued the Camino de la Vera Cruz project Caravaca, a 900-kilometer-long road that links 82 municipalities in five autonomous communities (Navarra, Aragon, Castilla La Mancha, Valencian Community and Region of Murcia).
