The mayor has reported that the Home Help Service subsidized by the City Council serves 72 users between the urban area and the districts
The City of Caravaca de la Cruz has prioritized attention to the most vulnerable neighbors during the current state of alarm due to the COVID 19 pandemic, such as the elderly, disadvantaged families or people with disabilities or illness.
As explained by the mayor, attention to these sectors of the population is guaranteed for the duration of this situation, as was done previously.
School canteen scholarships
The school canteen scholarships have reached a total of 85 students from the municipality of Caravaca and have been managed through the Commonwealth of Social Services of the Northwest in coordination with the Department of Education, which these days has processed food vouchers worth 4,454 euros that have been brought by Civil Protection volunteers to their homes.
This extraordinary game of school canteen scholarships has been delivered by the Autonomous Community until March 31, based on data on the number of students that the educational centers provided.
The measure will be extended by another similar amount to cover the extension of the alarm state until April 12.
"In this way, the correct feeding of these minors is guaranteed while the schools are closed and therefore they cannot stay in the school canteens as they are guaranteed by the scholarships that the Ministry of Education grants at the beginning of each course," José explained. Francisco García, who has thanked the local food establishments that have cooperated in this scholarship program for their collaboration.
Home help
The mayor has also reported that the Home Help Service subsidized by the City Council, through the Commonwealth of Social Services, continues to operate at full capacity, serving 72 users between the urban area and the districts of the municipality.
The energy and family poverty programs also continue to operate with complete normality, since in addition the decree of the state of alarm prohibits cutting off the supply of water, electricity and gas.
The Commonwealth of Social Services has also reported that non-contributory pensions, basic insertion income and all programs and grants are guaranteed and continue to be offered normally.
Likewise, these days they continue processing aid and distribution of basic food, hygiene products, butane, etc., to cover all families and people in vulnerable situations.
Also, social housing rentals are suspended.
