Other measures included in the contingency plan are the application of 'zero estimated consumption' to closed businesses, the postponement and division of debts with personalized plans, and the creation of a solidarity fund and bonuses for vulnerable groups.
The concessionary company of the municipal water supply service, Aqualia, in coordination with the departments of Public Services and Social Services of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, has a series of measures in place to collaborate with residents, businesses and companies directly affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
"Among the social and economic measures that the City Council has been planning to face this exceptional situation and to be as close as possible to the neighbors and their needs, there is also the Contingency Plan launched by Aqualia";
The councilor responsible for Public Services, Mónica Sánchez, has highlighted.
This plan includes a series of extraordinary measures, among which are the suspension of all cuts in the supply of drinking water;
the application of 'Estimated Zero Consumption' from March 14 to businesses forced to close due to the state of alarm;
the postponement and division of debts through personalized plans, the existence of solidarity funds and bonuses for vulnerable groups or those at risk of exclusion, the provision of free water to possible medicalized hotels and the reinforcement of channels of permanent telematic attention to available to citizens.
The person in charge of the service, Mario González, has detailed all the new measures, noting that while this exceptional situation lasts Aqualia paralyzes any cut in the water supply.
"We continue to carry out our functions with the utmost professionalism, aware of the responsibility implied by the provision of basic public services such as the integral water cycle."
All extraordinary measures are being taken in coordination between the City of Caravaca de la Cruz and the health authorities.
In addition, total normality is maintained with regard to the guarantee of quality of tap water, since the usual and normal disinfection treatments that are being applied are totally effective in eliminating the virus.
And this is recognized by the recent technical report of the World Health Organization (WHO) "Management of water, sanitation, hygiene and waste for COVID-19".
The contingency plan also contemplates coordination with the local administration to close the customer service offices, prioritizing telephone service and promoting the use of other communication channels such as the "aqualiacontact" app or the virtual office located in the Aqualia website (www.aqualia.com).
If there is an emergency that requires face-to-face attention, the heads of the offices will attend to users by appointment.
