The new pedestrian tourist signage with intelligent information has begun to be installed this week in the streets of the old town of Caravaca de la Cruz and nearby, with the double objective of renewing the previous milestones, already obsolete and insufficient, and offering visitors All the information immediately thanks to the application of new technologies, giving a more current and functional image of this equipment. "In order for the visitor who enjoys walking or strolling through the old town of Caravaca to know at all times what to see and how to get there, this project has been carried out, which is physically based on forged signs, in accordance with the monumental environment and with its own entity, "explained the Councilor for Tourism, José Carlos Gómez, who stressed that it is about promoting cultural tourism to take advantage of its potential as an instrument of social and economic development. The project includes the installation of 23 signs, made up of a total of 80 signs, with the buildings, museums, monuments, hotels and other places and buildings of interest labeled.
It also contemplates the replacement of 11 old signs and other urban elements in disuse, which, in addition to offering insufficient information, sometimes erroneous or non-existent, spoil the environment due to its poor condition and dirt. Funding for aid from the Rural Development Program comes from the European Rural Development Fund (EAFRD), which contributes 63 percent of the amount, and from the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Region of Murcia, which co-finances the remaining 27 percent. The Inventrip Application with all the information on the mobile The intelligent information system includes, in addition to the installation of physical signage, the registration of Caravaca de la Cruz in the Inventrip application, which is completely free, through which visitors can obtain information through the QR code that appears on the different landmarks that have been distributed throughout the municipality, in places such as Plaza del Arco, Calle Mayor or the beginning of Gran Vía.
