The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Local Police of Caravaca de la Cruz, has completed the 'Malek' operation, which began last August to clarify a series of robberies in homes in the municipality, with the arrest of two young people, allegedly linked to the criminal group dismantled on the first of the month, who are attributed the alleged responsibility of the crime of theft of industrial hemp on farms in the Caracas municipality. The Civil Guard has seized 200 industrial hemp plants and tools for their manipulation. The action has been developed to give continuity to the 'Malek' operation which, on the 7th, allowed the arrest of three young people as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force and the cultivation and manufacture of drugs; and with the apprehension of 1,500 stems of cannabis sativa. The subsequent analysis of the intervened substances determined that it was industrial cannabis sativa for pharmaceutical use, which allowed us to know its origin: several farms destined for this type of cultivation located in Caravaca de la Cruz. The Civil Guard located its owner and found out that he had been the subject of several thefts and that the plants seized in the first phase of the investigation were his property. From that moment, the agents established numerous preventive surveillance services in the vicinity of these enclosures that have resulted in the identification and arrest in flagrant of a young man, when he was inside one of the plantations, with about 200 freshly cut plants , ready for transfer in a van. The 28-year-old male, a resident of Murcia, is attributed the alleged responsibility of the crime of theft and against public health. Recently, another 20-year-old male from Alcantarilla has been located and arrested for his alleged relationship with the theft of cannabis. According to the investigation, the now dismantled criminal group rented vans in Murcia and traveled with them to Caravaca de la Cruz to steal the plants.
Once in their possession, they manipulated industrial hemp, adulterating it with cannabis sativa to give it the desired quality and, in this way, obtain a greater number of doses. The 'Malek 2' operation has allowed the clarification of seven crimes of theft of industrial hemp committed on farms located in Caravaca de la Cruz, whose owner values ??the economic losses at about 40,000 euros. Those arrested, the plants apprehended and the proceedings carried out have been made available to the Investigating Court of Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia).
