"To do this, we make a clear commitment to innovation applied to information and communication technologies in order to adapt and modernize tourist infrastructures and improve the promotion of the destination and the Camino de la Cruz", highlighted the councilor who directs the area, José Carlos Gómez.One of them is the one approved at the last Governing Council of the Murcia Region, for which Caravaca de la Cruz receives a grant of 49,000 euros to renew and expand the computer equipment (software and hardware) of the tourist information points.Likewise, the '24-hour Tourist Offices' initiative will be carried out, with the installation of three devices in representative or emblematic areas of the urban area, to provide visitors and also the residents of the municipality with information of interest throughout the day seven days a week.
This project has an investment of 18,000 euros.Finally, the central and strategic project is the incorporation of Caravaca de la Cruz into the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations, which represents a comprehensive strategy, supervised by the state company Segittur, dependent on the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Youth of the Region of Murcia."Regarding the Smart Tourist Destination project, we are finalizing the work of the consulting and self-diagnosis phase, where we analyze the current situation, the projects that are underway, as well as future initiatives", explained José Carlos Gomez.The councilor has stated that "it is a teamwork, which involves technical personnel from the three public administrations, united by the common objective of taking an important step forward in quality, innovation and a safe destination.
And for this we have achieved financing for different tools that modernize and update the destination, adapting it to new challenges and opportunities ".Currently, the International Network of Smart Tourist Destinations has 179 members, of which 119 are destinations from all over Spain.
