| Joining the National Network of Smart Tourist Destinations represents a commitment to differentiate the municipality and improve its position as a safe inland destination adapted to technology | The Councilor for Tourism explained the lines of work that are followed to be part of this network of 120 Spanish destinations, in the hands of the state company Segittur and the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia Caravaca de la Cruz has participated -as one of the seven municipalities in the Region that will become part of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations- in the IV Conference on Tourism Intelligence, which brought together in a blended format to about 300 professionals and about thirty experts in the Cartagena auditorium. The Councilor for Tourism, Jos Carlos G mez, was part of one of the five discussion tables that made up the event and addressed the process of transformation to this model that is promoted by the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, tutored by the state company Segittur, with the collaboration of the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia. "The conference had among its objectives to bet on this strategy of success in many places in Spain and in other countries to reactivate and reconvert the sector in a sustainable and safe way," said the head of the Tourism Area in the Consistory caravaqueño.
The conference was opened by the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina S nchez, and included representatives of the General Sub-Directorate for Sustainability Development (SETUR) of the Secretary of State for Tourism, and of the Mercantile Society State for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segittur), among other institutions. Currently, the International Network of Smart Tourist Destinations has 179 members, of which 119 are destinations throughout Spain.

The initial proposal presented by the Segittur society, at the request of the Caravacan City Council and the Murcia Region Tourism Council, is structured around key elements such as promoting the differential values ??of Caravaca de la Cruz compared to other competing destinations and improve its position in the national and international tourism sphere, through the application of information and communication technologies and other tools. Adherence, at this time of strong impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, supposes the commitment of the Caravaca de la Cruz City Council to renew and invest in different alternatives that make it possible to know the updated offer of the sector, favor the reservation and purchase management, ensure safe mobility and warn the local population and future visitors of the new sanitary measures.
