The Director General of Tourism, Marina García, today introduced a collection of comics designed to promote the Ways of the Cross and the Jubilee Year of Caravaca de la Cruz in the region and its surrounding areas.
The event was attended by the Councillor of Tourism of the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, Gonzalo López-Auguy, and the cartoonist and creator of comics, Alvaro Pena, who has explained that the library has a total of eight numbers which have been published about 150,000 copies, with an investment of approximately 9,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Marina Garcia stressed "the originality and the pedagogical nature of this initiative, which is a new formula to publicize both large and small the Holy Year Cross Roads and tourism resources in the region."
"The comics not only promote Caravaca de la Cruz, but that show an educational and fun tourist attractions of the cities where it runs pilgrimage routes, as highlighted by Gonzalo López-Auguy.
Each issue will have a predominant topic of Way of the Cross, so they all set an itinerary that covers the whole regional territory and neighboring provinces.
The publication is distributed free in schools and educational centers in the towns of Murcia, Albacete and Andalusian by passing these roads.
Cross Roads match as much as possible with the network of ecotourism trails designed by the Directorate General of Tourism, to exploit the synergies of both products.
As the line of work to continue in the future, the general manager said that the Ministry is working on a project for Cross Roads beyond their original routes and reach other regions, and finally, communicate the three holy cities Spain: Santo Toribio de Liebana, Santiago de Compostela and Caravaca de la Cruz.
"Pilgrims", the protagonists of the various stories in the comics, are characters created by the City of Caravaca to promote the Holy Year 2010.
In recent months, "Pacón compete," Margarita del Camino "," Sor Way "," Mari Cruz "," Fray Devoto "and" Lord Peregrine "have taken the name of Caravaca by major tourism fairs, sporting events and cities Murcia, Alicante, Albacete, and Granada.
They have also staged a play and a musical aimed at children.
