The deputy of the Socialist Group, Choni Ludeña has brought forward in the Committee on Education and Culture a motion of the PSOE in asking support for the City of Caravaca for the implementation of Vocational Training Middle Grade Technical Footwear & Accessories Fashion, attached to higher education institutions "Gines Perez Chirinos" Caravaca de la Cruz.
Choni Ludeña, who stressed the important work being developed by the City of Caravaca to enhance the footwear industry in the Northwest, an activity that has traditionally been one of the economic foundations of this area, currently being in the process of consolidation, development and evolution as a modern and solvent industry.
During yesterday morning, the secretary general of the PSOE-RM and spokesman of the Socialist Group, Rafael González Tovar, with the mayor of Caravaca, met with representatives of the Association of Alpargatera Industry and Footwear Northwest Murcia to claim greater attention by the regional government with the sector.
In the Region of Murcia there are 41 companies engaged in manufacturing footwear, of which 20 belong to the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz, with a turnover in sales of over 24 million per year.
"This activity has an important economic weight in the Northwest Region and currently specialty footwear within vocational training, only taught in Valencia, Elche and Elda, where there is a major industry in this sector".
