The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz and president of the Commonwealth of Social Services Northwest, José Moreno, and the sales manager of Iberdrola in Murcia, Itziar Pérez Lledó, have signed an agreement by which they undertake to protect vulnerable users of the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz, Calasparra, Cehegín and Moratalla.
The purpose of the agreement, under the commitment of both institutions to the principles of solidarity and community service, is to establish the necessary coordination mechanisms to avoid suspension of electricity supply and / or gas for unpaid bill to economically disadvantaged citizens.
The protection to which the agreement relates applies to all those who have contracted the electricity and / or gas from its usual home with Iberdrola and may, after technical evaluation of professional staff, be beneficiaries of an economic benefit intended attention to basic subsistence needs in social emergencies.
Jose Moreno highlighted the importance of this agreement by which "Iberdrola agrees not to suspend the supply of electricity and / or gas to such customers in vulnerable situations while granting that economic performance is managed".
Meanwhile, the chairman of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, said that "we are aware of the complexity and difficulties being experienced by many people in the current context, and act accordingly. Thus, in Spain, have launched a protocol and we are signing different agreements with government and NGOs to ensure continuity of power and gas to economically vulnerable customers. "
The company offered to provide beneficiaries of this aid and in particular the City of Caravaca de la Cruz, as the first city adhered to the agreement, advice on energy efficiency, information and training they need on the various aspects related to the subject of the agreement.
Finally, the two institutions have agreed to create a commission to monitor the agreement for the protection of vulnerable customers, which provide two members each.
