The Director General of Agricultural Funds, Carmen Garcia Frago, visited several farms in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz to check on the spot the areas of application of the measures agri-environment and climate Rural Development Plan, relating to the protection of steppe birds.

The purpose of these measures is to improve the feeding and breeding of these birds, by changing some traditional farming practices in the cereal steppes.

Steppe birds associated with the cultivation of cereal in which the aid of these measures would have the greatest impact would be: Houbara, Sandgrouse, Little Bustard, Lesser kestrel, Sandgrouse, Montagu's harrier and Alcara.
