The multicolored flag flutters today in the city of Caravaca de la Cruz on the occasion of 'World Day for Sexual Diversity' or 'pride parade', held by tolerance, equality and against all forms discrimination.
On this date, groups and institutions recall that no person should be ashamed of what it is, regardless of their sexual identity.
The intrinsic dignity of every human being can not be affected by their behavior or sexual orientation.
The date chosen for this commemoration recalls the events in the neighborhood of Greenwich Village on June 28, 1969, which gave rise to the first march for gay pride.
The Regional Assembly approved last May, by unanimous vote of all its groups, a Law on Social Equality Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, and Intersex and public policies against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
That law, published in the BORM May 31, says in its preamble that "wants to protect all victims of attacks by identity or sexual orientation in any field, ensuring that hate crimes do not have any legal coverage, institutional , political or social. this is because, despite the clear and evident progress in our society, still remnants of hatred and prejudice towards people with non-heterosexual orientation hide ".
