Murcianos researchers receive awards caravaqueña Robles Chillida Foundation (07/10/2016)

The old church of the Society of Jesus has welcomed the delivery of the 'Research Awards', awarded by the Foundation Chillida Robles.

Under the agreement it has with the University of Murcia, caravaqueña foundation has allocated 29,000 euros to R + D + I, the field of Health Sciences.

The fourth edition of these awards has been attended by the mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, Jose Moreno, who has praised the work carried out by the foundation "for its support of research and knowledge as pillars of the society".

Moreno Medina also congratulated the winners, encouraging them to continue the research work because, in his words, "is an engine of change and social transformation".

Also in the act they have involved the rector of the University of Murcia, José Orihuela;

the Vice Chancellor for Research, Juan Antonio Garcia;

the president of the board that governs the foundation, Amador Lopez, and the vice president and trustee of the foundation, Amalia Martin.

The foundation has awarded two research awards, endowed with 10,000 euros each.

The beneficiaries have been the Professor Dr. Maria Trinidad Herrero, the 'Smartfoods project.

Smart to improve cognitive function and prevent cognitive decline in older people ', and Professor Dr. Maria Jesus Periago, by' Interaction of polyphenols and fiber red fruits with the intestinal microbiota and its impact on obesity 'food.

Support for international mobility, endowed with 4,000 euros was for Dr. Marta Garaulet, by performing research 'Impac of melatonin, food timing and receptor gene variant on type 2 diabetes risk'.

The first prize in the doctoral thesis, consisting of an aid of 3,000 euros, went to Dr. Francisco Manuel Nadal, author of "Identification and characterization of the total population of retinal ganglion cell in rat '.

The second prize of 2,000 euros was for Dr. Daniel García Pérez, author of the thesis 'Opioid: neuronal plasticity in the neural circuits of reward and in areas of emotional memory'.

Robles Chillida, posthumous work of Elias Manuel Robles Chillida Foundation was established in 2011. Its main purpose is to promote the love of study, research, the honest commitment to society through intellectual work, from the early academic life to the higher stages.

Therefore it grants awards annually to study the best academic records and awards for research in the area of ​​Health Sciences.

The history of the foundation begins thanks to caravaqueño pharmacist Elias Manuel Robles Chillida, who donated his estate to initiatives that promote health and citizen welfare.
