Caravaca de la Cruz has received more than 3,600 students from the fourth year of secondary education and first year of Bachillerato, coming from 66 educational centers in the Region of Murcia.
The pilgrimage, which departed from the neighboring municipality of Cehegín via the Northwest Greenway, is part of the IX Encounter of Students of Catholic Religion.

The eldest sister of the Colegio de la Vera Cruz, Elisa Giménez-Girón, and the Councilor for Education in the Caravaca City Council, Esther Poveda, wanted to welcome all the students and teachers, after the meeting, presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, in the esplanade of the Castle.
Before this multitudinous pilgrimage, the School Council of the Region of Murcia has held its session of ordinary plenary session in the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz.
Subsequently, all members of this council, chaired by Juan Castaño, have moved to the Basilica of Santísima and Vera Cruz.
