The mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Moreno, and the president of the Provincial Council of Albacete, Santiago Cabañero, held today a meeting in the palace of the provincial institution on the occasion of the reissue of the compact disc of the Misa de Ánimas de Caravaca .
This is a collaborative project undertaken for the joint edition of Caravaca de la Cruz Antiquísima Mass de Animas, whose first edition, already exhausted, was carried out by the Diputación within the collection Provincia de Albacete "Tradition and Culture" and leaves New to light making it coincide with the Jubilee Year 2017.
"The Diputación de Albacete was interested in the registration of the Caravaca Mass of Animas because it has great similarities with the repertoires of the crews of the area southwest of the province of Albacete, in addition to the animeros focus all their cultural research in the Area of Yeste, Nerpio, Campo de San Juan and Caravaca, "said the mayor of Caravel.
For his part, the president of the Provincial Council of Albacete stressed the importance of supporting such "common" cultural projects, especially in a case like this, since the Caravaca Mass "is an unusual document, a An area of homogeneous cultural characteristics, articulated by the Segura, Sagra and Sierra de Moratalla mountains, "specifying that the territory corresponds approximately to the regions of Orcera in Jaén, Huéscar in Granada and Yeste in Albacete.
From the fourteenth century, Caravaca was the head of a wide jurisdiction comprising the encomiendas of Segura, Yeste and Caravaca, a population that was administered by the Order of Santiago and therefore not included in the neighboring lands of the kingdom of Murcia .
All this historical development has given rise to a traditional culture more similar to that of its natural region than to the rest of the present province of Murcia, to which it is incorporated in very recent dates.
The importance of Caravaca animators in the squadron is fundamental, since it was possibly the first place in the Spanish southeast in which the intention of recovering, at the beginning of 1970, the activity of the crews, that so much development has in the present.
In the meeting with the president of the Diputación Francisco Fuentes were present, in representation of the Butler of the Brotherhood;
Juan Montiel, specialist of the Mass of Caravaca de la Cruz and other traditions;
And Jesús López García, professor of Geography and History.
