The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Murcia for the design and implementation of participatory budgets in the municipal area of ​​Youth.
Among the main objectives of this agreement is to know and prioritize the needs of young people for a more effective and adequate use of the public resources destined to this group of population and to begin in this way, with the progressive implementation of participatory budgets in the Consistory caravaqueño.
The agreement was signed by the mayor, José Moreno, and the doctor of the Department of Political Science and Administration, Antonia González, who heads the research team that will be in charge of carrying out the different phases of the research process.
"The City Council of Caravaca, aware of the importance of citizen participation to improve the quality of decision-making at the local level, wishes to initiate through this project a way of approaching citizenship, starting with the sector of youth population "Said the mayor, who wanted to thank the collaboration of the secondary schools and Bachiller of the municipality, a fundamental part in the development of this project.
Specifically, the University of Murcia will design the participatory mechanism and work on the preparation of regulations, streamlining the assemblies, coordination of the voting process, evaluation of the mechanism through the survey technique and preparation of a valuation report .
The process will allow to know the 50 proposals most endorsed by the students of Secondary, Baccalaureate and formative cycles, for which the City Council will destine in 2017 a budget of 15,000 euros.
