The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has held the constituent meeting of the Tourism Council, understood as an advisory and advisory body that encourages citizen participation.
The council is chaired by the mayor, José Moreno, and brings together various social agents who, directly or indirectly, intervene in the sector.
"We think that it is necessary for all these actors in the chain that form the tourism system to act together, that is to say with common objectives and strategies and with coordinated action, so that we can achieve a more effective tourism management", as highlighted by the Councilor who heads the municipal area of ​​Tourism, Gloria Gómez.
Therefore, added Gloria Gómez, "this council aims to be an instrument of dialogue, cooperation and advice of municipal tourism policy and is configured as a space for participation and debate in the decision-making process."
The councilor of Tourism also explained that the Tourism Council reflects in its statutes meetings on a semi-annual basis, "but since it is an exceptional year for Caravaca de la Cruz, all members agreed on the constituent meeting to hold monthly meetings throughout the year. 2017 ".
At the first meeting, in addition to being constituted the council, assessed the tourist situation of the municipality, presented and discussed the Tourism Master Plan.
The Tourism Council has exclusively initiative, report and proposal functions, in relation to its sector of activity.
In particular, it is attributed functions such as information, guidance and advice to the City in the field of Tourism;
The study of policies and actions, proposing initiatives or suggestions that have a positive impact on the municipality and the issuance of non-binding reports on proposals, projects and standards that could be developed by the City Council or other administrations.
The Council of Tourism of Caravaca de la Cruz is presided by the mayor, Jose Moreno, and the vice-presidency is occupied by the Councilor of Tourism, Gloria Gómez.
As councilors there is a representative for each municipal political group, two members of the Association of Merchants and Hosteliers of Caravaca de la Cruz, a member of the Association 'Turacruz', a representative of the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of the Holy Cross and Vera Cruz and Three technicians from the municipal departments of Tourism and Culture.
