The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has extended the collaboration agreement with the Spanish Red Cross for the adapted transport of people with reduced mobility to the Castle during weekends and holidays.
The agreement has been signed by the mayor, José Moreno, and the new representative of the local committee of the Red Cross, Elena Jiménez, in the presence of the mayor of Social Services and Health, Mª José Soria, and the autonomic president of the aforementioned humanitarian institution , Faustino Herrero.
In addition, the Consistorio Caravaqueño has renewed the agreement of preventive coverage of public acts by the Red Cross, which makes available to the local administration its material and human resources to meet needs in terms of safety and health.
For its part, the City will pay 24,000 euros per year for the maintenance of the material, training of volunteer staff and to pay the cost of transportation adapted for pilgrims and tourists with reduced mobility.
The mayor has taken advantage of the extension of this agreement to highlight the indispensable, altruistic and voluntary work that Red Cross and Civil Protection personnel carry out in Caravaca, especially on dates such as the Jubilee Year 2017, in which There is a massive influx of tourists and pilgrims. "
For his part, the regional president of the Red Cross recalled that "the organization is always close to the people and institutions that need it to contribute to social welfare."
