The Town Hall of Caravaca de la Cruz has declared the municipality "free of circuses with animals", thus adding to the position already formalized by eight municipalities in the Region of Murcia and 380 more in Spain not to authorize the use of animals in Captivity in shows that imply cruelty or mistreatment.
The proposal, elevated to the Plenum by the Municipal Group of the United Left, obtained the support of the councilors of the team of Socialist Government, Citizens and the abstention of the Popular Municipal Group.
Among the points of agreement is that the regulatory ordinance for tenure and animal welfare includes a point indicating that, given the absence of a specific legislative framework and specific for traveling circuses, the City Council does not authorize its installation in the Municipality, considering essential aspects such as public safety, animal and human health, as well as the protection of animals.
In another order of business, the last plenary session of ordinary character was approved the motion submitted by Citizens for the creation of the citizen accreditation card, as an instrument for streamlining municipal procedures.
The proposal went ahead with the positive votes of the United Left, Popular Party and Citizens.
The Government team opted for abstention until it knew the economic viability of the measure.
Also a motion of the Popular group went ahead to delimit areas of visual protection in the accesses to the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz.
The measure counted on the votes in favor of the ediles of PP and Cs, the abstention of the PSOE and the vote against IU.
Finally, after the presentation of requests and questions from previous sessions, unanimously approved the motion of the Municipal People's Group for the parking and overnight of auto-caravans through the creation of a regulatory ordinance for this purpose.
The points of agreement were modified during the debate, in such a way that the municipal legal services will study the need to develop an ordinance and the service area for auto-caravans will be enabled in an area of the Nuevo neighborhood, based on the Project in which the government team works for which funding was requested with European funds.
