The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz has held in all secondary schools in the municipality the vote to choose the proposals of the area of ​​Youth that will be included in the municipal budgets of 2017. More than 1,000 students have participated in this pioneering experience in the Region Of Murcia, that foments the citizen participation and allows to know the priorities of the youthful population.
The Councilor for Education and Youth, Esther Poveda, who visited the institute 'Ginés Pérez Chirinos' coinciding with the voting day, expressed its gratitude to the students, teachers and management of the centers, for the involvement shown to Throughout the entire process.
He also said that this experience has served to meet the needs and demands of young people and have a pilot experience for the progressive implementation of participatory budgets in the City of Caravaca.
José Manuel Mayor, one of the promoters of the process led by the University of Murcia, has detailed that, once the technical filter has been applied according to previously established criteria, of the 95 proposals made by the students, 25 For your vote.

For the design and implementation of participative budgets applied to the area of ​​Youth, the Consistory Caravaqueños signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Murcia.
Before the vote, different information assemblies were held, explaining the concept of participatory budgets, similar experiences developed in other cities and projects decided.
The City Council of Caravaca undertakes to materialize the most supported proposals, allocating for this a budget line of 15,000 euros.
