Caravaca de la Cruz has received the Cross of Lampedusa, who pilgrims to the city on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2017 on the initiative of the Italian foundation 'Casa del Espíritu y del Arte'.

The Lampedusa Cross was created following the tragedy of the island of Lampedusa, in which 366 people from North African countries died.
Made by the artist Francesco Tuccio, it is more than two meters high and is built with wooden remains from the boats of immigrants and refugees, sunk on the shores of Lampedusa Island.
