In response to the unfortunate statements of the PP councilor Mónica Sánchez, in which she questions the action of the municipal government for not being selected in the Strategy for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development of Caravaca de la Cruz (EDUSI), we declare the next:
It should be remembered that EDUSI is part of a plan promoted by the European Union, for the period 2014-2020, in which several municipalities, for example the one in Cartagena, started to work in 2014 to prepare their strategy, which Did not happen in the city council of Caravaca de la Cruz, then governed by the PP, who did not perform any management in this regard, who knows if because they doubted about the continuity of his party to the front of the government.
On June 13, 2015 took place in the local government and the first call was made on November 17, certainly two years late.
It is surprising, therefore, this reproach of the PP, when barely five months had passed since the arrival of the new socialist team in Carava, after a long period of inaction of the PP, now "tears the garments."
Following the call made on October 7, 2016, the development of the Strategy for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development for our municipality was entrusted to a company of recognized solvency, with more than 10 years of experience in the management of European funds, which Has a multidisciplinary team with capacity to elaborate this type of work effectively, having obtained for the Region of Murcia more than 60 million euros in the previous period.
Ms. Sánchez García asserts that the time for completion of the work had been insufficient;
Nothing further from reality and the evidence I refer.
A work was developed fulfilling all the requirements established by the European Union for this type of development strategies to which the ERDF funds are destined.
The fundamental pillars were discussed and the lines of action were defined following a design of citizen participation in which the different sectors of the population collaborated actively in various meetings held during the months of October, November and part of December;
And whose conclusions were reflected in the strategy that finally appeared.
The result is that, on a scale of 0 to 100, we have obtained a very good score of 73.25 points, certainly higher than that of each and every one of the regional proposals selected in the first call.
There were thirteen municipalities in the Region that opted for these subsidies through a very high competitive competition and, therefore, with a high cut score, but only one was selected, the City of Murcia (78.75 points), with a proposal Which will benefit of more than 14 million euros, total amount foreseen in the call.
If the winner had not been a municipality of more than 50,000 inhabitants (which could reach up to 15 million aid), the strategies of three smaller municipalities (with an option of up to 5 million euros each) would probably have been selected, Among which Caravaca would almost certainly be safe, thanks to the excellent score obtained.
On the other hand, if the economic envelope had not been so scarce, we would probably be celebrating the success of having been selected.
But we continue, there will be a new opportunity this year 2017, so it has been announced.
If we consider that for the next call is expected a considerable increase in budget and our strategy, as we have said, enjoys a magnificent score that starts from a good starting position, without the intention of "selling the skin of the bear before hunting" , I can say that we have given all our hope and hope to finally, with the help of the European Union, carry out an excellent proposal for modernization and sustainable urban development of great importance for our municipality, which will materialize in the coming years.
