The Music Museum of Barranda celebrates this Friday the traditional 'Noche de San Juan' (20/06/2017)

The Museum of Ethnic Music of Barranda - Carlos Blanco Fadol Collection, with the support of the Councils of Culture and Tourism of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz, celebrates this Friday, June 23, from 10 pm, the 'Noche de San Juan'.

For this, the attendees will be able to participate in the traditional "Salto del Fuego", accompanied by the sound of the percussion.

Juan Hermosilla will be in charge of conducting a participatory musical show, which will have the audience as the protagonist.

This professor, with a degree in Musicology and with extensive experience in workshops of this type, will make available to the audience 50 drums and other percussion instruments, so that they can be integrated into the show, following the different rhythms that will be marked along the performance.

The entrance will be free until capacity is completed.

The 'Night of San Juan' is a celebration of very ancient origin, linked to the arrival of summer solstice, which is celebrated in many European countries and especially Spain and Portugal.

In recent years, the exterior of the Museum of Music Museum of Ethnic Music Barranda, where you can admire a varied sample of the musical culture of 145 countries, is also the scene of this celebration.

The museum houses many of the instruments of Blanco Fadol, a musicologist who for years has toured countries of all continents, contacting with ethnic groups that still preserve the increasingly scarce traditional instruments, as well as music, stories and legends that go back from The 3rd century BC to the 20th century.

The instruments stand out for their exoticism, authenticity and spectacularity, presenting sizes as diverse as the small baroque stem clarinet from Belarus to the giant Chinese drum, which reaches almost 4 meters in height.

Most of the collections in the collection are no longer used in their places of origin, when they are displaced by new musical tendencies or small groups of musicians.
