The College of Industrial Technical Engineers and Graduates in Industrial Engineering has presented the winning project of the competition called among all its collegiate to provide the esplanade of the Castillo de la Cruz a shaded area.
The project has been announced at an event held in the Council Hall of the Colegio de la Vera Cruz, with the presence of the mayor, José Moreno;
The eldest sister, Elisa Giménez-Girón, and the dean of the school, César Nicolás.
The winning idea has been presented by Juan José and Juan David Lopez, from the Opigrum study, who have designed a completely removable and retractable structure, projected in laminated wood and vegetal fiber, which is based on a metal structure buried in the surface of the Esplanade, with the main objective of integrating the shade into the whole.
The shadow area will have a capacity of more than a thousand people seated, with evacuation corridors.
The College of Industrial Engineering and Graduates in Industrial Engineering created a competition with bases based on strict technical criteria, since the Royal Basilica of the Vera Cruz enjoys a special protection, being a Property of Cultural Interest.
All the submitted projects were therefore referred to the Directorate General of Cultural Assets for its mandatory report and resolution.
The aforementioned professional college pays the cost of preparing the technical project, its study of safety, health and coordination, as well as the technical management of the work.
The mayor thanked this collaboration, while congratulating the winners of the contest, "for developing an integrative project in line with the environment, meeting the needs transmitted by the Colegio de la Vera Cruz, to mitigate the effects of time between the Thousands of pilgrims who meet in the ceremonies and events that are held outdoors, given the reduced capacity of the Basilica.
