The councilors of Tourism and Culture of the City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz celebrate this Saturday, September 9, the concert of sacred music 'Andante con júbilo', with the Murcia choir 'Discantus' and the Chamber Orchestra OSUCAM of the Catholic University San Antonio, under the direction of Angel L. Carrillo.
The concert, which will take place at 9:00 pm in the parish church of El Salvador, with free access, will also feature the participation of soprano Victoria González Pacanowska and mezzo-soprano Sol Sancho Gómez.
"This cultural event is celebrated on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2017, on the day before the Solemn Quinario of the Exaltation of the Santísima and Vera Cruz," said the Councilor for Tourism, Gloria Gómez, who wanted to "encourage everyone neighbors and visitors to join as a public to this special concert, which will be able to listen to one of the most outstanding choral music formations on the national and international scene, accompanied by a magnificent chamber orchestra.
The first part of the concert will be dedicated to the composer Antonio Vivaldi and his work 'Gloria'.
In the second part, the voices and the orchestra will perform 'Misa Jubilar', composition of the caravaqueño Francisco Javier Cantó Sánchez, released in 2003. The concert will close with the premiere of 'La primogenitura de la nada' by Francisco Javier Cantó, composed this same year, based on the poem with the same name of the caravaqueño also Barnabas del Toro.
The 'Discantus' choir, after twenty-three seasons of intense work, has established itself as a leading musical entity, offering concerts in China, the United States, Argentina, Poland, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France and the entire Spanish geography.
He has won prizes in national and international competitions, highlighting his Silver at the International Choral Olympics in Xiamen (China) and the 2011 Promusica Prize for his educational work with the youngest.
In its incipient discography, it has fourteen edited discs of the most varied styles, as much classic as modern, folklore Murcia, carols, didactic editions for textbooks, et cetera.
