The Department of Culture of the Municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz convenes the second edition of the outdoor painting contest 'Rafael Tejeo', so that new painters, professionals and amateurs enjoy a day of coexistence dedicated to painting, based on themes and landscapes of Caravaca de la Cruz.
Registration can be made from today, Monday 11 September, and until October 21, the date of the event, in the premises of the Municipal Library and the Informajoven, from 9 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm .
It can also be formalized through the email areacultura@caravacadelacruz.es, stating the name of the participant and contact telephone number.
The competition is open to artists of any kind, who can participate with a single work, which must be unique, original and unpublished.
The bases establish two categories: Children (from 6 to 15 years), who will have a first prize of 200 euros exchangeable for school material and a prize of 100 euros, and category for those over 16 years old and up, with a first prize gifted with 1,000 euros and a runner-up of the jury of 250 euros.
With all the works presented to this contest, the Department of Culture will hold from November 6 to 17 an exhibition at the Museum Carrilero.
The style and technique will be free and the theme chosen by the artist should be related to the natural landscapes, daily scenes and urban settings of Caravaca de la Cruz.
It will be obligatory to present the work in rigid support to facilitate its exhibition, in addition each participant must be provided with the necessary material to execute it.

The City Council of Caravaca de la Cruz started last year this contest, with which it pays tribute to the caravaqueño artist Rafael Tejeo, camera painter of Isabel II, considered one of the great portraitists of the first half of the XIX century.
In its first edition the winner was Alberto Márquez Ruiz, from the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada in Alicante.
The accésit was for the alcoholic painter David Escrabal Aguado and the prize of the category child was granted 'ex aequo' to Elena Gutiérrez Sánchez and Ana Guillén López.
