The Bishop of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, closed yesterday the Quinario on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, inviting the caravaqueños to take care of the pilgrims that arrive to this place;
and to put the center of the gaze on Christ, "the only one who can heal man".
"When God gives us the cross, it is to complete the healing passion of Christ, to heal the wounds caused by my sins, in me and in others," Bishop Lorca explained, encouraging those present to live faith in a coherent way: What comes to the heart is not the words, but the testimony of a person's life. "
He recalled that the relation of man to God does not enslave but is freedom, "because Christ has paid with his blood our freedom ... Let us come to Caravaca, let us sojourn to the Cross of Christ, to find the gift of knowing how to love as Christ loved us. "
During the celebration, the cross was imposed on the new brother brothers, about twenty-five, among whom was the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras.
At the end of the celebration, the procession of the Vera Cruz was carried out around the walls of the alcazar-sanctuary.
The Bishop of Cartagena and the parish priest of El Salvador, Jesús Aguilar, carried the Sacred Relic, accompanied by the Armaos Company of the True Cross (the guard of honor who guards the Lignum Crucis in their exits from the sanctuary) and hundreds of faithful.
Upon her return, once inside the walled enclosure, the patron blessed the fields, the city and all who dwell in it from the four cardinal points.
